Things I’ve been learning

The past few months have been full of changes. We’ve all had to learn to deal with a bit of uncertainty in our lives. As I am wrapping up my last project of 2020, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on some things I’ve learned, or am trying to learn.

  • I want to get better at the editing and fine tuning process in my work, specifically my design. I feel like I do really well at the conceptual and research stage, and I get through the hard work in the middle, but I don’t feel like I’ve gotten a good hold on the tuning process towards the end. On one project in particular, I think this is where I fell a little short. I think I can help this with some more specific preparation and a shift in mindset as projects progress.

  • I am so thankful to get to be involved in theatre. I remember the first moment in sat in on a rehearsal in September, and I watched a bit of fight choreography being worked on, and my heart was so full. I can’t wait to have that back.

  • Taking the time to fully invest in moments is critical. A video I watched recently spoke about how the main thing we can give to people/situations is our attention. Being able to be fully present in moments and conversations, being able to put aside my to-do list, this has helped me cultivate better relationships and friendships. I think the more all of us do that, the better the world would be.

  • I can never stop learning. There is so much I dont know, so many things I can’t see, or haven’t seen, so many things I can discover. Though I won’t ever get all of it down, and though it can be tough, it is necessary and rewarding. The ability to listen, learn, and grow is vital.

Here’s to more learning.
