Emerge Laborant

Emerge Laborant drew from the rise of opioid addiction. For this piece, after discussing ideas with the choreographer, I prepared a design presentation, with inspiration images, ideas, and the initial renderings. After being given the go ahead, I went and purchased items from Goodwill to repurpose for the piece. I then dyed, distressed, and literally burned these items in my kitchen sink. The process was incredibly fun, and I was given a lot of liberty to create something unique for each dancer.

Right / Wrong

I choreographed this piece thinking of the intimacy of relationships, and the dichotomy that can exist between relationships and people’s perceptions of a relationship. In costuming, I wanted something that would add to this intimacy, and still have a soft quality.

Continuum

For this piece, we wanted to create natural and unique dye on each of the pieces. To do this, I used both powder dye for coloring and rust dyed each piece with steel wool and washers.

This piece was focused on insomnia. Brandon, the choreographer, was very drawn to the lemon-lime yellow color, so I dyed shirts to create that for him. Interfacing was used to create specific necklines for each dancer.
